The flu virus kills, We encourage all our patients who are eligible to get protection against the flu each year.
Clarendon Medical Centre, together with Hyde Primary Care Network (PCN) are busy behind the scenes getting ready for this year’s flu campaign. As a PCN we have purchased and reserved flu vaccinations for all our eligible patients.
Our first delivery is planned to arrive mid-September, with clinics being held from the end of September 2021. We have heard that there will be a Covid-19 booster programme this autumn. Details on this vaccination programme have not been made public as yet and we don’t know if or how this will affect our flu clinics. Once we know more we will be able to get some dates in the diary and start inviting patients to book their flu jab.
Following your feedback, this year we will continue to offer the “drive-thru” clinics with the addition of “drop in” clinic’s across Hyde for anyone without transport. When patients are invited for their flu jab they will have the option of booking their appointment online or by contacting the practice.
Thank you for supporting your General Practice.
Some patients, regardless of their age, are at increased risk from the effects of flu because they fall into certain risk groups. People in the following groups should be vaccinated every year: Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, emphysema, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, Heart disease, renal failure, undergoing dialysis or have had a kidney transplant, liver disease, weakened immune system and splenectomy. If you are unsure if you fall into an ‘at risk’ group please ask the receptionist who will be able to advise you.
We also offer Pneumococcal vaccination to all those who are eligible for Flu vaccination (this is not a yearly vaccination and, usually, needs only to be given once this needs to be arranged seperately).
