Shortage of blood bottles
Posted on 14 Mar 2022
There is a national shortage of blood bottles which is expected to last at least until the 17th September. This is affecting all health care providers. We have therefore been told by NHS England to postpone all non-urgent blood tests.
NHS England have asked all hospitals and GP practices to stop all non-essential blood tests with immediate effect, this is due to a problem with the supply chain producing bottles. They are working to resolve this issue and we will do our best to prioritise which tests we can continue with.
